How to Lose Weight and Improve Your Health by Eating a Whole Foods Diet

Eating a whole foods diet is a great way to lose weight and improve your health. A whole foods diet, also know as a “real foods” diet, is a diet that consists of only natural, unprocessed foods. It is a very simple diet to follow and only requires common sense. It is also an easy diet to stick with, because it doesn’t force you to give up a lot of great foods, nor does it require you to buy any specialty foods that can’t be found at any grocery store.

The philosophy behind a whole foods diet, is that you should only eat what nature intended for you to eat. It makes perfect sense, really. Look at other animals living in the wild. Have you ever seen a fat deer? I haven’t. When cookies and milkshakes start growing on trees, I’ll assume that they are healthy to eat. However, I don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon.

There are a lot of obvious junk foods that you should never eat when you’re on a diet. Foods like French fires, cookies, brownies, doughnuts, cake, and ice cream would be examples of obvious junk foods. There are some foods, however, that are not so obvious. Anything containing white four is a not so obvious junk food. White flour is said to be bad for our digestive system and promote weight gain. Foods containing white flour would include pizza dough, white bread, biscuits, and dinner rolls.

In theory, if you were to only eat foods that are natural, your body would return to its natural state. Meaning you would have a healthy level of body fat and cholesterol, a strong immune system, and a healthy digestive system. Eating a strictly whole foods diet forces you to only eat foods that are naturally good for your body. It is easy to understand how doing this would ensure that you consume the proper amount of vitamins and nutrients, thus increasing your health and energy. Many Americans fill themselves up on foods like pizza, bread, and cheeseburgers; which may leave them feeling satisfied, but will not supply them with the proper nutrients.

As you can see, there are plenty of foods to choose from. Anything that is natural qualifies as a whole food. You can still cook and prepare your foods, also. As long as all of the ingredients you’re using are natural, you are still consuming a whole foods diet.
